Face it. You are at NMH in part because you want to go to college, preferably a great college that is a fabulous match for you. Well, the library is here to help you (as usual). Every five years the American Library Associationputs together an annotated list of books to help you prepare for college.
Here's what the ALA has to say:
"The books on this list offer opportunities to discover new ideas, and provide an introduction to the fascinating variety of subjects within an academic discipline. Readers will gain an understanding of our diverse world and build a foundation to deepen their response to that world."
And...
"...it offers opportunities for independent reading and lifelong learning. Use it to round out your reading as you prepare for college entrance exams and courses, to strengthen your knowledge in a variety of subject areas and enhance appreciation for different cultures and times."
So, check out the list of Outstanding Books for the College Bound
It's broken down into 5 sections: arts and humanities, history and cultures, literature and language arts, science and technology, and social sciences.
